The Challenge

Resilient production in the automotive industry

Car production has traditionally followed a comfortable model: set up a production line and let it run for years. This has fundamentally changed: resilience is now the goal – resistance to sudden changes. This requires a completely different, AI-controlled production line that can be switched over mid-production – from a computer.

Demonstrating this, directly on-site, without having the technology available yet and with a minimal budget, was the challenge.

The Solution

A mobile, interactive dashboard, staffed by a technical team, guides participants through the automotive plants, specifically the Mercedes-Benz sites. In a series of moderated information sessions, employees and partners can explore firsthand how the resilient production line of tomorrow functions.

The Result

A five-figure investment that saved a seven-figure investment.

The demonstrator made it clear: this is how resilient production can work. Discussions with employees on site, in particular, generated new ideas and approaches that will be incorporated into the demonstrator in the next iteration. This will create a blueprint for the first truly resilient production line.
